Bidding Strategy for Online Car Auctions
Anti-snipe rules changed the game. Here is how experienced buyers approach the final hour.

Online car auctions with anti-snipe extensions do not reward the fastest finger. They reward preparation and patience, which is a very different skill.
Do the work early
Every question you want answered should be asked at least 48 hours before the end. Sellers answer thoughtfully when they are not under pressure, and their answers become part of the public record for other bidders too.
Understand the extension
When a bid inside the final minute extends the clock, last-second bidding accomplishes nothing except keeping the auction open. The auction ends when interest ends, not when the timer says so.
Set the ceiling in writing
Your maximum should include the buyer's premium, transport, immediate maintenance and registration. Write the all-in number down before the last hour and treat it as fixed.
Losing well
There is always another car. The bidder who walks away at their number will buy better than the bidder who won the last one on adrenaline.
