Has the F80 M3 Found Its Floor?

The F80 spent its early years being compared unfavourably to the E92 and dismissed for its engine note. Depreciation was steep. That has changed.

Where prices sit

Well-kept Competition Package cars with under 50,000 miles have held in the high thirties to mid forties for eighteen months. Manual cars are trading above equivalent DCT examples for the first time.

Why it stabilised

It is the last rear-wheel-drive-only M3, the last with a manual as a genuine mainstream option, and the S55 has proven more durable than its early reputation suggested with sensible maintenance.

What to check

Crank hub condition on tuned cars, charge pipe replacement, and evidence of regular oil changes rather than the extended factory intervals.
