Track Prepping a Street M Car Without Ruining It
Fluid, pads, tires, cooling. In that order, and mostly nothing else.

The fastest way to make a road-going M car worse is to modify it for a track it will visit four times a year. The genuinely useful preparation list is short, reversible and mostly consumable.
Fluid first
Brake fluid boils long before pads fade on a stock car. Flush with a high-temperature DOT 4 before your first session and again annually. Fresh engine oil at the correct level matters more than brand.
Pads and tires
A track-rated front pad transforms confidence. Keep the street pads for the drive home if you can be bothered swapping. On tires, a 200-treadwear road tire is the right compromise for most drivers; anything stickier will find the limits of your cooling before it finds the limits of your skill.
Cooling and oil control
Naturally aspirated M engines are oil-starvation sensitive under sustained cornering load. Run oil slightly over the full mark and consider a baffled pan if you are doing more than a handful of days a year.
What to skip
Coilovers, big brake kits and power upgrades belong at the end of the list, not the start. Seat time compounds; parts do not.
