BMW F97 X3 M — 2020–2024

The X3 M was the first vehicle to receive the S58 engine, ahead of the G80 M3. It produces 473 hp as standard and 503 hp in Competition trim, in a body substantially smaller and lighter than the X5 M.

That size difference matters. At roughly 4,400 lb it is a full 1,000 lb lighter than the X5 M, and it changes direction with a keenness that no other M SUV can match.

The trade-off is ride quality. The suspension is firm to the point of harshness on poor surfaces, particularly in Competition trim on 21-inch wheels.
